HISTORY
In 2002, eight women of the Detroit metropolitan community established the Pearls of Promise Foundation as a charitable organization whose primary purpose was to focus on the welfare of the youth. The signature programs, Minor Hall and the Ivylettes, both focus on education, health, global poverty, and economic security. The signature programs allow students to participate in various activities, including but not limited to financial workshops, community service events as hosts and participants, physical well-being sessions, mentoring, college preparation activities, and scholarship opportunities. In addition, the Foundation has an annual scholarship program based on grade point average, need, and academic potential. The Pearls of Promise foundation is supported purely by donations and fundraising. The Pearls of Promise Foundation, Inc. is a 501(c) 3 organization, established by Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. Lambda Pi Omega Chapter. The Foundation is celebrating 22 years of continued service to the metropolitan Detroit area.
